Marco police briefs: Feb. 5, 2010

Theft of beer

Jose Reyes, 29, of the 100 block of Delbrook Way, Marco, was arrested at 2:12 a.m. on Jan. 23 and charged with theft, after police say he stole beer, valued at $10.99, from the 7-Eleven store located at 600 Bald Eagle Dr. Reyes was released on a notice to appear in court.

Felony battery

Sarah Wildey reported to police that was the victim of an assault that occurred on the 1100 block of Caxambas Road at about 2 a.m., Jan. 26. Wildey reported that she was struck by Lonnie Heckelman, 35, of the 600 block of Auto Ranch Road in Naples. Heckelman was charged with felony battery and taken to jail.

Criminal mischief, vehicle damage

Krista Harbour reported that someone damaged her vehicle while it was parked at the Marco Marriott Beach Hotel and Resort, located at 400 S. Collier Blvd. There was about $50 in damage caused to the vehicle sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Jan. 31.

In My Day in uniform, and obviously not on Marco Island, The officers would have paid for the beer, and driven him home after a stern talking to. This way the court system in so tied up at the tax payers expence.

One beer cost $11? Sounds like someone took advantage of a drunk. They should arrest the fellow who inflated the price.
