Local boaters are glad improvements to the boat ramp are finished on Collier Boulevard before you head over the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge to Marco Island.
Finally.
Construction started in August and was supposed to be finished by October. In the process, the price tag doubled — to $1.6 million.
“Unforeseen site conditions” are cited, reminding us of past road projects which came in late and over budget.
Boaters who will pay for all that via $5-per-day launch/parking fees wonder why a project of that magnitude did not include the basics of a fish-cleaning station or restrooms.
Maybe it’s not too late if we think of it as a work in progress and put the public interest first?
