Local performer and former American Idol contestant Shelby Dressel will appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show today at 10 on NBC-2.
Dressel, who lives in Avon Park and has appeared in Estero, was eliminated from Idol last week but her story of overcoming a birth defect that left the right side of her face partially paralyzed has inspired many.
The 19-year-old gets a big break today thanks to DeGeneres, who is now a judge on American Idol.
