Gulf Coast Venture Forum meeting is Jan. 14 in Naples
Gulf Coast Venture Forum (GCVF) President Tim Cartwright would like to remind existing members and those interested in membership of the upcoming monthly
meetings of the Gulf Coast Venture Forum.
The Sarasota Chapter meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Blvd. of the Arts, and is sponsored by Private Capital Management. The Naples meeting takes place the following day, Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Tiburon Golf Course Members Club Room from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., 2610 Tiburon Drive in Naples and is sponsored by TIB Bank.
The presenting companies this month are both in the technology fields. One is a biotechnology company that develops therapeutic molecules for use in oncology, with a focus on molecularly targeted and pharmacogenomics-based research platforms. The other is in the telecommunications industry offers a compelling alternative to traditional telecommunication services for mid-size, multi-location professional services firms. Both are sure to be highly informative and interesting.
The purpose of the Gulf Coast Venture Forum is to promote the success of Southwest Florida’s new and emerging businesses by bringing together the best entrepreneurs, early stage venture capital firms and Angel Investors. They promote the success of the region’s new and emerging businesses by bringing together entrepreneurs, educational resources, capital providers, and service providers. Members of the GCVF meet monthly to hear about local investment opportunities, and they also offer informative educational programs presented by seasoned, recognized professionals and business people, providing a place for the sharing and exchange of business and technical experience. To encourage capital investments in Southwest Florida businesses, the GCVF seeks to identify sources of private equity investment and venture capital. Gulf Coast Venture Forum is always open to new members. Monthly meetings are scheduled October through June each year. GCVF is also available to provide speakers to local organizations who want to learn more about the purpose of the GCVF and local investment opportunities.

Wedding expo is Jan. 31
The Wedding Professionals of Southwest Florida announce their Premier Paradise Wedding & Event Expo scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 31, from noon to 4 p.m. at LaVenezia Ballroom. The event is open to the general public, and is ideal for those planning to celebrate a wedding, Quinceanera, birthday, anniversary, or special event in 2010. Guests will enjoy a Fashion and Hair Show, entertainment, complimentary makeovers and hairstyling, specials gifts for the guys, giveaways and raffle.
One lucky guest will win a $5,000 All-inclusive wedding or event package – including floral arrangements, DJ, hairstyle, makeover, fashion, jewelry, cake, photography, limousine and more. Raffle Tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $25.
The admission price of $5 or 5 cans of food, will be donated to the Nations Association, a local non-profit struggling to help support and feed the overwhelming number of local families who are less fortunate. “Our organization unanimously decided to ask for a donation to the Nations’s Association, rather than charge a true admission price for the event, so we could do our part to give back to the community in need,” says Mitzie Barnes, owner of Say It With Flowers of Cape Coral and member of The Wedding Professionals of Southwest Florida.

Tickets on sale for News-Press 2010 Market Watch
Tickets now are on sale for the News-Press 2010 Market Watch with early registration pricing available through Jan. 31.
