Letter To The Editor: Strummers thank TBE

I would like our community to know what an enjoyable time the Marco Island Strummers had while playing our brand of music at the pre-Christmas luncheon at Tommie Barfield Elementary on Dec. 17. We came away yet again with a very positive opinion of the school, its faculty and leadership, and of the children’s behavior.

The children were surprisingly friendly, able to communicate with us, and quite a few wanted to sing with the band. Many of them made a point to shake my hand, tell me they were “morning musicians,” and to thank us (with hugs no less) for the donation the band gave to the school to help make it possible for them to attend a performance of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. We thank music teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Braren and principal Mrs. Jory Westberry for giving us this wonderful opportunity to be involved with the children of our community.
