The newly-formed Island Soccer Club is looking for a singular identity for its 3v3 soccer teams, while also looking to add more teams.
At the same time it is fundraising for those teams.
On Saturday, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Vandy’s 5 Brothers Restaurant, a poker tournament will benefit the organization. Entry fee is $50 a person, with players winning prizes, including a flat screen TV, Nintendo Wii, BluRay DVD Player and more.
Those interested in helping the soccer program can sign up at Vandy’s, or go online to MarcoIslandSoccer.com.
The public also has a chance to give the teams a single identifying name.
Like the Marco Eagles Football program does for its teams, the soccer club wants to have a unified team name. Name finalists are: Barracudas, Rip Tide, Thunder and Tropic Thunder.

Joseph Bartos, president of the soccer club, said the three initial teams, put together in late summer, will compete in the World Championships in Orlando this month.
The teams qualified through the National Tournament held in the fall.
The Flaming Geckos qualified for the 10-12 recreation age group. The Sandheels qualified for the 10-12 age recreation group, while FC Marco will be in the 13-15 class.
Bartos said the goal is to add three more 3v3 teams, consisting of six players per team, but can have fewer. Just three persons can make a team, but then they would be playing the entire game.
So far there are three boys teams, but Bartos said that girls are encouraged to play.
“They can form a girls team, or they can have a coed team,” he said. The coed team would play in the boys division. Individuals or teams can register by going online to MarcoIslandSoccer.com.
The club is not part of the Optimist Club of Marco Island.
