Two weeks without Jake. Gulf Coast High student Jake Couture, just 17-years-old, was shot and killed on New Year’s Day. His family and friends have spent every second since in agony.
Family friend Paula Springs is on a mission to honor Couture's memory. Her first stop -- Gulf Coast High School.
"I just wanted to do something small in Jake's memory so that when people walked by it and saw his name, they'd remember him," she said.
Springs suggested a bench, or a tree, or even just a brick with Couture's name on it. But the school said no. Gulf Coast High School Principal David Stump says that type of memorial isn't appropriate for a school or educational setting.
