The Greater Naples Better Government Committee gave Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk an A grade for his first year in office.

Committee members graded Rambosk by measuring the progress he has made in fulfilling his campaign promises, said Sally Tiffany, a member of the board who tracked the sheriff’s progress throughout his first year in office. Rambosk pledged to improve relations between the Sheriff’s Office and the county’s citizens and businesses; develop a community-involved traffic enforcement effort; use technology to reduce costs and improve the agency’s effectiveness; and start a partnership with surrounding counties to focus on local crime concerns.

“We felt he had met his objectives, and we were impressed with all he had accomplished in one year,” Tiffany said. “He has surrounded himself with good people in that department. He will readily admit they make his job a lot easier.”

The committee endorsed Rambosk during his campaign for sheriff in 2008.

The committee also graded Collier Commissioner Jim Coletta and School Board members Julie Sprague and Kathy Curatolo, who all won elections in 2008. Coletta received a B+ from the committee, while Sprague and Curatolo both received an A-.

The Greater Naples Better Government Committee is the longest continuing political action committee in the area, having formed in 1991.
