COLLIER COUNTY — Authorities have not yet identified the man found lying in a Golden Gate driveway Wednesday morning, nor established a cause of death. Collier County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Michelle Batten said an autopsy is under way this morning, and that investigators would likely try to determine his identity using fingerprints.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation in Golden Gate.
The body of a white male was found face down in the driveway of a duplex at 2330 Hunter Blvd. The man wore a dark T-shirt, a belt, jeans and white tennis shoes. He appeared to have tattoos on the right side of his torso.
The Sheriff's Office is still working to identify the man, and it has yet to establish a cause of death, according to a spokeswoman.
Dispatchers received a call about the body at 7:30 a.m. Crime scene investigators removed the body around 10 a.m. and left the scene.
Residents at the duplex said they didn't know the man. Lilian Camacho, 35, said her husband returned at midnight the previous night and left at 6:45 a.m. this morning. He didn't see the body either time, she said.
A man who answered the door at the next unit--the one closest to the body--said he stepped outside to head to work when he saw the body in his driveway. He said he didn't know the man and had never seen him.
