Tea Party leader victim of vandalism at Mercato

The Mercato

9259 Mercato Way, Naples, FL

— A visitor to the Mercato attacked a political activist's Toyota RAV 4 SUV with a key on Wednesday night, Collier deputies reported.

"I immediately noticed the word jackass keyed into the driver's side door," reported Cpl. Jason Miller, who responded to the call of vandalism and theft at the upscale North Naples shopping center.

Terri Parr, 52, of Golden Gate Estates, is an active Tea Party member and vice president of the Naples 9.12 group. When she returned to her 2002 silver SUV at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Parr saw her political signs missing, scratches through several politically-related bumper stickers and scratches on all sides of the car, she told law enforcement.

Several of the signs were missing completely, Parr reported.

The keyed car was deeply gouged through the signs, stickers and auto paint, deputies reported.

Fingerprints above one of the keyed bumper stickers were taken.

Damage and losses were estimated by deputies to be in the range of $300 to $1,100.

There are currently no suspects, deputies reported.
