Some area attractions announced early closures due to stormy weather from Tropical Depression Bonnie.
■ The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has cancelled the outdoor “Hot Summer Nights” event planned for Friday night at Max Hasse Park, Golden Gate.
■ Tanger Outlets in Fort Myers closing at 2pm because of Bonnie.
■ The National Park Service announced it will close its administrative offices and visitors centers at Big Cypress National Preserve at noon today because of the threat of high winds and heavy rain.
All other facilities at the preserve remain open but travelers are urged to use caution on roadways.
Visitors centers are expected to reopen Saturday, and administrative offices will reopen Monday.
■ Other state parks in the area closed camping and boat ramps, including Collier-Seminole, Delnor-Wiggins Pass, Koreshan and Cayo Costa.
■ The Fort Myers Miracle announced that today’s (Friday, July 23) game against the Brevard County Manatees has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled and will be played tomorrow (Saturday, July 24) at 5:05 p.m. as part of a doubleheader (both games will be seven-innings in length). Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with the “McDonald’s Backpack Giveaway” to begin with the opening of the Hammond Stadium gates.
Fans holding tickets to today’s (July 23) postponed game, should keep their tickets for admission into any remaining Miracle home game in 2010. Tickets are not subject to refunds. Fans are encouraged to visit www.miraclebaseball.com, call 239-768-4210, or visit the Hammond Stadium Third Floor Ticket Office during normal business hours, to inquire about the availability of tickets for future games.
