NAPLES — Watch the magnificent sunset or listen to the music during the summer’s jazz festival while sipping a tropical cocktail such as a mojito at the Sunset Beach Bar at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, 851 Gulf Shore Blvd. N., Naples. Kelly Lawfer was a bartender in upstate New York for four years before relocating to Naples in 2004. She has been tending bar at the hotel for the past six years and watching the video of her creating a mojito will inspire dreams about being on the beach with the surf tickling your toes while you relax with your refreshing drink.
Mojito
Ingredients
2 teaspoons sugar
3 sprigs of fresh mint
1 fresh lime, cut into wedges
1½ ounces white rum
Splash, soda water and more to finish
Ice
Preparation
■ Place sugar and leaves of three sprigs of mint into a 10- to 12-ounce glass.
■ Squeeze the juice of three lime wedges into the glass and then drop in the wedges.
■ Add a few ice cubes and a splash of soda.
■ Muddle all the ingredients in the glass until the sugar is dissolved.
■ Add more ice and pour in the rum.
■ Top with soda water and stir or shake.
■ Garnish the glass with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint and enjoy.
