Sale, who has the distinction of being named the nation’s best college player by none other than the manufacturer of baseball bats — which at times seemed futile against his mound performances — went instead as the 13th pick, of the Chicago White Sox.
Fourth? Thirteenth? No matter. The stage is now set for him to move on to the next level. Sale still will be well rewarded for his raw talent and hard work.
We are glad to see Sale give plenty of credit to the coaching staff at FGCU.
They have earned something else as well — notoriety for a baseball program that is advanced far beyond its tender years.
Chris Sale and FGCU have done well.
