NAPLES — The driver of a 1996 Jeep escaped with minor injuries after he crashed into a semi truck on Tuesday night.
Jean Jean-Baptiste, 36, of Naples was driving his Jeep westbound on Davis Boulevard east of U.S. 41. Donald C. Grimm, 56, of Jacksonville, was also driving west on Davis in the outside lane and was turning his International truck north into the driveway of a business in the 1900 block of Davis Boulevard.
Jean-Baptiste changed from the center lane to the outside lane and struck the right passenger door of Grimm’s truck, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jean-Baptiste attempted to avoid the truck by braking and steering north, but his bald tires prevented him from stopping on time, according to the report.
Grimm was not injured in the accident.
Davis Boulevard was temporarily closed while the accident was cleared.
