Ahmad Ahmad, of Naples, dreamed of opening an ice cream shop, like the ones he had seen in his travels. His dream ice cream shop was inviting, and beautiful, and brought happiness to the people who came there. And the people came, by the hundreds, to try for themselves the special ice cream they had heard of, that could be had nowhere else. Handmade, natural and delicious, the ice cream looked as good as it tasted, and it tasted so good, it almost seemed like a dream.

Ahmad traveled to Michoacan, Mexico, to learn about making ice cream, and began talking to the locals. Eventually, Ahmad was befriended by a man there, who owned Sultana, an ice cream parlor that served exceptionally delicious ice cream. This man taught Ahmad everything he knew.

Ahmad knew Naples was just the right place for this store. Ahmad spent years achieving his dream, and when he was finished, the real ice cream store was even better than the one of his dreams.

Michoacana is now officially open, offering more than 30 flavors of homemade ice cream, made by hand on the premises from natural, premium quality ingredients.

“Every day, I am amazed at the compliments the store gets from people who come for the first time. Even though I thought it would go very well, I could never have guessed how much,” said Ahmad.

All ice cream at Michoacana is made from real, natural ingredients. Whether it’s rum raisin, pistachio, strawberry or a flavor you request and have custom made by Michoacana staff, it will be made from real cream.

“Everybody loves things that are natural,” said Ahmad. “The waffle cones are natural, also. For banana splits, which are made from three big scoops of ice cream in any flavor you want, there are waffle bowls.”

Banana splits are just $4.99, and come with any combination of 10 toppings, including whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles, raisins, oatmeal, maraschino cherries and M&M’s.

At Michoacana, scoops are oversized. A small ice cream cone, $1.75, has two scoops. Medium cones, $2.60, have two large scoops. Large cones have two jumbo scoops, for $2.99.

Popsicles, $1.50, are made from natural ingredients in 25 flavors. Or, pre-order them in any flavor you want, for parties.

Michoacana’s bestselling tropical drinks are homemade and natural, too. Strawberry, pina colada, lemonade, and citrus fruit flavors are $1.75 for small, $2.65 for medium, or $2.99 for large.

Whatever your choice at Michoacana, you’ll love the huge portions, low prices and quality you can taste, available nowhere else.

Homemade ice cream is creamy, smooth and sweet, just exactly right for a hot summer day. Michoacana has exotic and traditional ice cream flavors, and water ice popsicles, at very reasonable prices.

Two big scoops of ice cream for $1.75, made by hand, using natural ingredients—you’ll scream!

dear C. Harrison: Your article of June 25, 2010 was perfect. At that time the Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor was exactly as you described but.........now is January of 2011 and WOW what a change. First prices are up..which it is OK but the amount of ice cream is far less than before. I mentioned because my dip of Ice cream was hollow inside. Their answer was...well my brother was giving to much ice cream before. So, I guess I will not be going back again.
