The annual Hearts of Hope Hospice fundraiser came to Naples this year — 400 people strong — to support the Hope Hospice service group of inpatient care, caregiver relief, counseling and grief therapy.
The Feb. 6 event was the eighth annual fundraiser sponsored by the women’s committee for Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, said John Strickling, community relations director for Hope Hospice. The evening was devoted to learning about hospice and enjoying dinner, entertainment and silent and live auctions. This year’s event wasn’t themed, but Strickland said it was well attended, bringing in as many visitors as the gala has attracted in years past.
Tickets were $300 for benefactors and $250 for patrons. Net proceeds from the gala have not been totaled yet, he said. The evening was planned by Donna Roberts, chairwoman, Women’s Committee for Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs and cochairwoman Etta Smith.
Hope Hospice has six locations in Lee County, including Joanne’s House, at 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs. Its hospice houses are for patients who require a full-time supervised setting, or for those whose caregiver is in need of respite. In-patient facilities provide a home-like atmosphere where patients receive special care while being surrounded by friends and family members. Guests are welcome 24 hours a day. Hope Hospice also offers grief therapy for survivors of a family member or close friend death.
