— An elderly man drove his four-door vehicle into the front of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.

The man driving told Collier County Sheriff Officers he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes while parking, causing his car to run over the curb.

One person who suffered minor injuries was taken to a local hospital.

Members of the North Naples Fire department responded.

Seriously, should this man be allowed to drive? Good thing he didn't kill someone. It's bad enough someone had to go to the hospital. Annual driving exams should be mandatory after a certain age. Reflexes just aren't the same. Add that to medications many seniors take which may slow down abilities... oh my.
