ORLANDO — An attorney for the family of a SeaWorld trainer says they would suffer severe harm if a video is released depicting her death by a killer whale last month.
Jon Mills said at Wednesday's court hearing that Dawn Brancheau family's right to privacy outweighed the public's right to view the video made by a SeaWorld camera.
Circuit Judge Lawrence Kirkwood didn't immediately rule on the family's request to permanently prevent the video's release to the public. The judge had issued a temporary injunction last week.
An attorney representing news organizations said she didn't object to an extension of the injunction so all sides could mediate a resolution.
Brancheau was killed last month after being thrashed underwater by the whale after a performance.
