Lely pounced on Gateway Charter, scoring five runs in the first inning, coasting to a 6-0 win on Friday.
Pitcher Gabby Pozo had little trouble with Gateway hitters, while slamming a two-run homer over the left field wall in the first inning.
Marco’s Katie Hogan hammered a two-run double, while Jazmin Swope had two hits, scoring twice.
The win gave the Lady Trojans a 9-5 mark on the season.
Gateway girls gave a cheer to themselves after the game because they have lost a number of games by the 10-run mercy rule. The rule is that if a team is behind by 10 runs after five innings the game is called. They went the complete seven innings against Lely.
The Lady Trojans played Golden Gate and Mariner on Tuesday and are now off on spring break.
