Coverage: Gulf Coast Oil Spill
TALLAHASSEE — BP PLC Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward says the company will give $70 million to four Gulf Coast states for tourism promotion.
Hayward made the announcement Monday after meeting with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.
The funds would help the states counteract unfounded fears that BP's Gulf of Mexico oil spill has fouled the beaches and shores of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Hayward said Florida will get $25 million and each of the other states $15 million.
