— Marco police earlier today investigated an accident involving a male cyclist and the driver of an SUV at the island’s Town Center entrance/exit on Bald Eagle Drive.

Their conclusion was that the cyclist was at fault, and had exhibited “careless driving.”

Capt. Dave Baer of the Marco Island Police Department said the bicyclist had minor visible injuries, while the vehicle driver was uninjured.

The cyclist was treated at the scene by emergency personnel, and then taken to the hospital in an EMS vehicle.

The accident occurred around noon on Wednesday.
