May’s “4th Art Walk” took place Wednesday night. The art walk allows the artist of the Artist Colony at the Esplanade to showcase their works of art.
The Artist Colony at the Esplanade is composed of three galleries; Portside Studios, Rightside Studios, and Waterfront Gallery. This month’s theme was “Moon Over Marco.” The theme allowed the artist to reach into their imaginations and create a work of art that represents the moons magical influence on them.
Jo-Ann Sanborn from Rightside Studios said, “The reason we choose ‘Moon Over Marco’ is because the moon is so much a part of our lives.” Sanborn continued, “Most likely because we are outside so much. Plus there is nothing like the sight of the moon and a palm tree.”
Art lovers leisurely strolled from one gallery to the next admiring the entries in the People’s Choice event as well as all the other works of art on display in each gallery. At each gallery they were treated to light refreshments. Each gallery also had one of three local entertainers Jim Allen, David Michael, or Shelley Million.
Attendees were provided a punch card at their first stop. If the attendee visited each of the galleries and had their punch card validated at each stop they received a discount at CJ’s on the Bay or a free glass of wine at Tara’s Steak and Lobster House. Attendees also voted on their favorite people’s choice entries on display in each gallery.
People’s choice entries
Portside Studios: Carolyn Buger’s painting “What a Night”, Susan Patton’s photo “Home Coming”, and Inez Hudson’s paintings “Moonlight Bather” and “Beach Moon.”

Betty Newman said, “All the artist received a lot of votes and the public had a fun time.
The overall winner of the people’s choice event held during the “4th Wednesday Art Walk” was Tracy Gudgel’s, Waterfront Gallery, painting “Siren Moon Over Marco.”
The walk will continue to take place the 4th Wednesday of every month.
