PHOTOS: Downpour doesn’t dampen musical performance at CJ’s

Sunshine poured out over CJ’s on the Bay late Thursday evening after a heavy rainstorm pounded the Island.

The temperatures dropped and the music picked up as people came to the Esplanade, drying off after the quick downpour. With Jim Long entertaining those who attended, Marco Islanders and vacationers got up and danced to the music, enjoyed a late-afternoon drink and savored the vibrant Florida sunset.

“It’s always weather-permitting,” said CJ’s beverage manager James Hubbard. “We’ll cancel if it’s electrical; otherwise we’ll do it every Thursday.”

John and Bette Little, Massachusets natives and longtime Marco Island visitors, enjoyed the classic music Long sang, noting it was baby-boomer music, bringing back memories of their earlier years.

“The music is nice,” Bette Little said. “This is the music we were brought up with and it’s fun to dance to.”

The live music happens every Thursday night at CJ’s from 6 to 11:30 p.m., with Jim Long outside until 9 p.m. and Jenny Wood singing inside until 11:30 p.m. Info: www.cjsonthebay.com.
