A Golden Gate Estates mother of two hid in a bedroom with her children early Monday morning when three men broke into her home to collect on a $120 marijuana debt, according to an arrest report.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Stewart Garrell, 33, of the 5500 block of Collins Avenue in East Naples, William Arnold, Jr., 24, of the 5400 block of Collins Avenue in East Naples, and Marco Mis, 22, of the 900 block of Heron Court in Marco Island before dawn on Monday morning and charged all three men with burglary while armed and petit theft of $100 - $300, the arrest report said.
Deputies received a call around 2 A.M. on Monday morning reporting three men being in a house on the 1100 block of 16th Street NE in Golden Gate Estates, and for “deputies to get there quick,” the arrest report said.
Upon arrival, deputies surrounded the house and apprehended Garrell, Arnold and Mis as they exited the rear of the house, the arrest report said. After being placed in handcuffs, deputies found a sheathed knife on the belt of Arnold, along with a pouch of Mr. Nice Guy flavored herbal smoke, a half of a pack of menthol cigarettes and $53 in cash, according to the arrest report.
The victim of the break-in told deputies that she was watching television with a friend as her children slept when she heard a loud banging on her front door, the arrest report said. She told deputies that she recognized the voice of one of men arrested – Stewart Garrell –as he called her name from outside of the residence, the arrest report said. She became scared, according to the report, as she admitted that she owed Garrell $120 for a marijuana purchase three months ago. She told deputies that she had spent time with Garrell earlier that day, but had dropped him off at a friend’s house after he asked for his money and the situation got tense, the arrest report said.
The victim told deputies that she, her friend and her two children hid in the bedroom as Garrell, Arnold and Mis circled the house and knocked on all the windows for 45 minutes, according to the report. When the knocking ceased, the victim said she peaked under the bedroom door and saw black shoes inside her house and a few feet away, the report said.
While investigating the scene, deputies discovered a cut in the back porch screen close to the lock, the report said. A statement from the victim revealed that she was missing $49 to $53 from her wallet in her purse on the kitchen counter, a half a pack of menthol cigarettes, and a pouch of Mr. Nice Guy flavored herbal smoke – all items discovered on Arnold when he was apprehended by deputies, according to the arrest report.
The three men were arrested on probable cause and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling while armed and petit theft, the arrest report said.
