TALLAHASSEE — California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is endorsing Gov. Charlie Crist's independent bid for Senate.
The Crist campaign said Schwarzenegger made his announcement Tuesday through Twitter. The tweet said, "I endorse Gov (at)charliecristfl for Senate. Great leader, works with both parties, and our country needs someone like him in DC right now."
Crist has been having a hard time keeping the support of Republican leaders after leaving the party and creating a three-way race with Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Kendrick Meek.
Schwarzenegger is leaving office after the November election and hasn't been popular with the conservative side of his party. He and Crist helped each other on climate change issues and with political fundraising.
