PHOTOS: 3,000 attend Oktoberfest at Esplande

The beer was flowing and the polka was plenty during Sunday’s Greater Marco Family YMCA’s sponsored Oktoberfest in Marco Island.

With eight different beers on tap, guests could try a variety of beverages, like Blue Point Brewery’s Blueberry Ale or Beck’s ‘Oktoberfest’. Restaurants from across Marco also came out, offering bratwurst and other German favorite for guests to purchase.

The festival, a Marco tradition for over five years, lasted from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Esplanade Shops off North Collier Boulevard.

With nearly 3,000 in attendance, Oktoberfest also acts as a fundraiser, with money raised throughout the day given to help assist children to attend the YMCA’s preschool program.

“It’s a successful event,” said Cindy Love, CEO of the Greater Marco YMCA. “It’s a day to come out, relax and eat in an awesome atmosphere.”
