Collier deputies investigate shooting at Sugden Park

— Collier Sheriff's deputies have confirmed shots were fired shortly before 6 p.m. at Sugden Regional Park.

Emergency responders were called to a shooting, said Deputy Chief Dan Bowman with Collier County EMS.

A victim was transported out of the park and later taken by medflight to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Deputies cordoned off parts of the park.

Park officials, by order of the Collier County Sheriff's Office, shut down the park.

Crime scene tape surrounded the main entrance and people were being escorted out of the park.

A Collier County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said she could not give any details about what happened inside the park.

Several Sheriff's Office deputies were on scene.
