— It happens only once a year in Naples. It's Florida Stone Crab time, and the city is feasting.

"This is the largest number of people I've ever seen at Tin City in the 11 years that I've lived here in Naples," said Joan Wood referring to the crowd of nearly 300 at Tin City off of Fifth Avenue South Saturday, dancing to the live music, drinking beer and of course sucking on the succulent delicacy.

What makes stone crab so unique is simply its origin. From October 15 to May 15, the Florida stone crabs are captured by traps and one claw is removed. This one claw is the secret treat. The crab takes 12 to 24 months to regenerate the claw and for it to reach legal size.

The Stone Crab Festival is on until 9 p.m. Sunday. But by 6 p.m. the $2 claws with a prominent black tip that looks like Hawk's beak were sold out.
