Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott is expected to announce Thursday his choice for a running mate, according to the St. Petersburgh Times.
Rep. Jennifer Carroll, R-Fleming Island, a three-term state House member and the first black woman Republican ever elected to the Legislature, is expected to be Scott’s choice, the Times reported.
Carroll, 51, is a native of Trinidad, a 20-year U.S. Navy Veteran and has three children, among them Miami Dolphins rookie cornerback Nolan Carroll II.
During the administration of Former Gov. Jeb Bush, Carroll served as the Executive Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
