Registration has begun for the first ever Rookery Bay Reserve Adventure Race, which is on Dec. 4. Friends of Rookery Bay and Up A Creek Kayak Tours present this 3k kayak race on Henderson Creek and 4k run on the nature trail at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center for up to 50 adventurers. Awards will be presented for the top three finishers in each category (men, women and relays), and all finishers will receive a medal. The registration fee of $35 for individuals and $60 for two-person relay teams, includes admission to the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, race T-shirt and post-race refreshments provided by Costco Naples. Kayaks are not included. Proceeds benefit youth science education, environmental research and community outreach programs. Registration is open through Nov. 30 at or call by calling 293-6232.

Racquet Center Open House

The city Parks and Recreation Department will host an open house at the city of Macro Island Racquet Center, 1275 San Marco Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. It will be an opportunity to meet the professional tennis staff and other staff members. Activities will be a free adult clinic, games for kids, racquet ball and pickle ball demonstrations.

Gulf Coast Little League sing-ups

On Wednesday, Gulf Coast Little League will have its annual general membership meeting. At this meeting the membership will nominate and elect the 2010-2011 Gulf Coast Little League Board of Directors and fill many key volunteer positions.
