It’s premiere week in primetime and I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

The moment I heard the redo of the “Hawaii Five-O” theme song, I was sold. Not to mention the cast includes the talented Alex O’Loughlin (“Moonlight”) and Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost”). The show debuts at 10 p.m. Monday on CBS (WINK).

Monday also sees the return of favorites like “Dancing with the Stars,” “House” and a new season of “How I Met Your Mother.”

Perhaps the most anticipated return of the year is “Glee,” which kicks off a new season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox 4. But you’ll have to wait a week to see the much-hyped Britney Spears episode.

According to the map in the show opener, “Cougar Town” is not that far up the road from us. It premieres Tuesday with special guest star Jennifer Anniston reteaming with “Friends” co-star Courtney Cox. Word is she plays Cox’s shrink. Do I feel a recurring role coming on? “Cougar Town” airs at 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, on ABC 7.

Thursday sees the return of big comedy shows “Big Bang Theory” (CBS), “30 Rock” and “The Office” (NBC). My favorite return of the night is “Fringe.” The show’s star, the lovely Anna Torv, is still trapped in a parallel universe where the Twin Towers never fell.

Fridays are back this season. For a time it was the land of reruns and news magazines. Last year the CW took a chance on “Smallville” that paid off so well it’s returning for a 10th and final season; paired with “Supernatural.” There’s also buzz building around “Blue Bloods,” starring Tom Selleck.

The “Simpsons” return on Sunday for SEASON 22! “The Amazing Race” is back, too. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Vanessa “Ugly Betty” Williams on “Desperate Housewives.” From the clip I saw, she is exactly what this aging show needs to breathe new life into it.

The end of the ‘World’

A special shout-out to Susan Willis of Estero, one of several readers who wrote me about last week’s column on the end of “As The World Turns.” Willis writes, “Like you, I grew up with the soaps on CBS. Their writers and cast members were some of the best.

“The ‘World’ brought to light many real-life issues people deal with every day and dealt with them in a sensitive manner.”

Willis says she won’t tune in to the new show, “The Talk” a view-like panel show: “I am so tired of talk, reality and news shows.

“It is so much better to sit back, relax and be entertained.”

Couldn’t agree more, Susan.

Local tubing

Thank you to all the folks who took the time to drop me a line. Judy Gaffney writes, “My question is what happened to the NBC news commentator that was always on in the morning and at noon. We were away for six weeks and when we returned, he was gone.” Another reader also asked what happened to the popular newscaster.

That’s Paul LaGrone. NBC 2 News Director Darrel Adams tells us LaGrone is now working at WPBF, the ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach. He anchors the morning newscast.
