Check the progress.

Aiming for a Nov. 13 public unveiling, three new sections of Naples Botanical Garden are making great strides.

The Asian Garden will feature replicas of different Southeast Asian landscapes such as Java, Thailand and Bali. The centerpiece is of towering bamboo, a fruit grove and a rice paddy.

The Florida Garden will highlight palms, lakes, native wildflowers and grasses.

The Water Garden, with aquatic plants from around the world, features a pool bridged by a boardwalk with a stage in the middle for musicians and other performers.

This time last year the garden was preparing for its grand opening — actually a re-opening, because the garden had existed in a more modest incarnation previously — as the public knows it today at the south end of Bayshore Drive off U.S. 41 East.

Just before Thanksgiving, just in time for the winter season, Naples Botanical Garden will be taken to a new level.

The public can inspect the progress and get sneak previews of it all daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
