Attention all women duplicate bridge players, the 4th Women’s Online World Bridge Festival will take place from April 11-17 at Bridge Base Online.
Bridge Base Online is a free bridge Internet site where you can test your bridge skills everyday against players who have the same skill level as yourself.
The website is free, but also has a category for tournament games that requires you to pay an entry fee. To play in tournament events you must bank some money — between $5 and $20 will get you started. The site is secure so have no qualms about using your credit card. Register and receive an identifying nickname and away you go to play in tournaments any time of day and night.
The tournament games are run every day by either the American Contract Bridge League or Bridge Base for 25 cents, $1, or $5 per tournament, but each tournament is only eight or 10 boards. Once you are registered at BBO you are ready to play players from all over the world.
The above information is valid for both men and women, but once you are registered ladies, go to www.wbfwwomensbridgeclub.org, and register to play in the International Women’s Online Bridge Club.
The festival will be played with two individual tournaments followed by two pairs tournaments each day (a total of 28 tournaments). The games run on Italian time, which is 6 hours ahead of us. (For example, the 5 p.m. games are actually at 11 a.m. our time).
The Women’s Online World Bridge Festival is being presented by the World Bridge Federation and BBO. As this is such a prestigious event, WBF Online Master Points will be awarded to the top 20 places on the overall ranking.
Last year this organization ran weekly online tournaments and is again considering restarting these weekly games. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Naples Bridge Center on Golden Gate Parkway hosts their spring sectional, Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m., to Sunday May 15th, game which starts at 10 a.m. for a Stratified Swiss Team 2 session event.
