Well, it warn’t Shakespeare. As theatrical performances go, “Bubba & Belle’s Hillbilly Wedding” owed more to Larry the Cable Guy than Laurence Olivier – in fact, members of the bridal party kept urging each other to “Git ’R Done.” The festivities, held at the San Marco parish hall on Marco Island, drew on broad stereotypes of country bumpkins, with both the bride and the maid of honor sporting “a bun in the oven,” an arch of beer cans, and a cast of characters including grandmother “Geri Atrick,” grandfather “Al Symers,” and best man “Dwayne Pipe.”

It was all in good fun, and all for a good cause, with proceeds going to the Wishing Well Foundation, which grants wishes for children with life-threatening diseases. The show, which included a buffet supper, was written by Donna Melton, who played blushing bride “Belle E. Flop,” and produced by long-time Wishing Well volunteer Dale Rod, who was cast as groom “Bubba Gum.”

Thank you for the wonderful story and great pictures Lance. A great big thank you to all of the cast members and the audience; you were amazing! Thank you to Steve Reynolds and Island Paradise DJ for setting the mood with your tunes and to Chef Bob Alywin, who catered the event (which was no easy task). The food was delicious. Thanks to San Marco Catholic Church for the beautiful facility to make this all happen. More importantly, thank you to Vicki Tourbush and The Wising Well Kids ,Becca, Michael, Katie and Elena, and their mom Val for spending your evening with us and helping to make this fundraiser such a success. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!
