“Thank You Myra” days, a tribute to Philharmonic Center for the Arts Founder and CEO Myra Janco Daniels, have been organized for Jan. 14 and 15, featuring concerts with celebrity appearances by alumni such as Boston Pops Music Director Keith Lockhart, music, art, food, free community events and more.
Collier County and the City of Naples both will proclaim January 14-15, 2012 as “Thank You Myra” Days to honor Daniels, who is retiring this year.
The two-day celebration will include an orchestra concert at the Phil on Jan. 14 featuring Lockhart, who conducted pops concerts at the Phil from 1993 to 1995, and several special guest performers. A free “Community Day” at the Phil on Jan. 15 will be tailored for families. It will include a museum open house, performances by the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Chorale, food stations catered by Naples restaurants and other family entertainment.
The “Thank You Myra” days tribute is being planned by the staff and board of the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, with its auxiliaries the Naples Philharmonic League and Friends of Art; the Naples Daily News; and the Naples Chamber of Commerce.
In conjunction with the celebration, the Phil is launching the Myra Daniels Legacy Fund, a one-time request to create a reserve that may be drawn, at the discretion of the board, to support the Philharmonic Center, the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, the Naples Museum of Art and the center’s education programs.
