NAPLES — To no one’s surprise, two Naples men’s teams represented their region well in this past weekend’s USTA League 6.0 and 8.0 Super Senior National Championships in Surprise, Ariz.
The men's 6.0 team from Naples finished second at the event, losing to the team from Hot Springs Village, Ark., (representing the USTA Southern Section) 2-1 in the championship match. The team was captained by Jim Moore and featured Gary Lefebvre, Bruce Houran, Dusty Rhodes, Jim Bifaro, Larry Weinstein, David Saks and Ed McGuire. They play out of The Players Club & Spa.
In the 8.0 division, the team from Naples finished fourth after losing a third/fourth playoff match 2-1 to Hamilton, N.J. (USTA Middle States Section).
The Naples 8.0 fourth-place finishers were made up of Jim Gelhaar, Bob Boyson, Ron Mutchnik, Jack Suter (captain), Jack Moter, David Bushey, John Owler, Richard Hoel and George Morton.
