April showers bring May flowers and Mother’s Day on Marco Island where many of the Island’s restaurants have created menus that will make Mom’s day an exceptionally happy one and keep her out of the kitchen.
Marco Island Princess’ “Sleep Late Mom” Mother’s Day Brunch cruise departs at noon and continues until 2 p.m. Price: $39, includes a 2-hour cruise with the Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet featuring scrambled eggs with traditional accompaniments, carved roast turkey breast, and Caesar salad, fruits and Danish. Casa Mia Italian Steakhouse will be open Mother’s Day from 4 to 9 p.m. and will be serving the regular menu in addition to “Mom’s Favorites” created by Chef Charlie. Showcased specials include: Just Surf, two 6 oz. lobster tails with salad, potato or pasta and fresh spring vegetables. $32.99; lobster ravioli with premium lobster chunks finished with sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a pink brandy sauce with salad $26.99; stuffed shrimp with Maryland crab meat finished in garlic lemon butter sauce. Regular Tropiks Classic Breakfast Buffet - 7 a.m. to 12 noon; brunch from noon to 2 p.m. Price: $24.95 per adult including a mimosa; $10.95 for children under 12. The Mother’s Day brunch begins with Chef’s original potato puree bar featuring sweet potato and Yukon gold potato puree with condiments, followed by the salad bar’s organic greens and condiments. The cold offerings include Marriott’s signature fresh-squeezed orange juice, alongside icy cocktail shrimp accompanied with horseradish sauce. Following along, the carving station offers a delicious duo of marinated free range turkey with light tarragon au-jus and churrasco steak with Chef’s signature fresh chimichurri. Chafing dish selections include Smoked brisket and rosemary roasted tiny potatoes, spicy Florida rock shrimp Madras or vegetarian moussaka to name a few as well as sausages along with potato gratin with garlic crust and puffy ricotta and apple fritter dusted with cinnamon sugar. Entrees include rack of milk fed Colorado lamb aged in a special fine herb marinade and served on a rosemary-burgundy gravy ($33.95); Sushi-grade yellow fin tuna steak grilled to medium rare ($23.95); Filet of red snapper Provencal ( $25.95) or honey glazed duck breast ($23.95).
