Waterspouts in SW Florida

SANIBEL — A waterspout was spotted off the coast of Sanibel Island on Sunday morning.

Waterspouts are a fairly common phenomenon in South Florida and in the tropics.

Most of the water spouts we get around these parts are classified as "fair weather" or "non-tornadic" waterspouts, which may sound a bit contradictory.
