$62,000 in air conditioning coils stolen from San Carlos Park business

More than $62,000 in air conditioning coils were taken from a San Carlos Park business.

Sometime between August 1 and August 16, thieves partially dismantled the air conditioning systems at Modspace Corp attached to each of 27 trailer modules and removed the interior aluminum condenser coils. A manager from Modspace claims that each wall mounted system costs about $2,300.00 to replace, making the estimated value of loss $62,100.00, according to Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The manager also said that he believes that thieves gained entry to the trailer storage yard by cutting holes in the chain link fencing. The holes were located at two different corners in the lot.

According to reports, much of the storage lot perimeter has dirt roads surrounding the fenced area and it is possible that the thieves simply carried each coil to the holes in the fencing. The air conditioning coils are approximately 2 1/2 to 3 inches in dimension.
