NAPLES — Collier County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a 30-year-old homeless man in connection with the robbery of a Naples GNC last weekend.
Brandon Maile was charged with one count of armed robbery.
Deputies were called to the GNC at 5014 Airport-Pulling Road in the Carillon Place shopping center shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses said a man entered the store, displayed a gun and demanded money. He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured.
Detectives said Maile became a suspect as the result of a call to the Crime Stoppers tip line. They also believe Maile may be involved with a robbery at Cold Stone Creamery the day before the GNC heist, agency spokeswoman Kristi Lester said.
“At this time, it’s part of an active investigation,” Lester said.
Detectives are still investigating whether or not Maile acted alone in the GNC robbery. He previously pleaded guilty to grand theft in January 2010.
