An 8-foot alligator attacked a 90-year-old woman this afternoon as she walked along her property in southern Collier County.

The gator tried to drag the woman into the water but she was able to hang on as a Good Samaritan driving by came to the rescue, according to authorities.
An unidentified man in a truck saw what was happening and jumped into action.
The woman did lose part of her leg and was med-flighted to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Emergency responders are reporting that a woman has been bitten by an alligator in southern Collier County.
Scanner reports say the gator amputated the woman’s leg. The incident occurred near State Road 29 and U.S. 41 in Copeland.
The alligator was still in the water and a trapper has been called to the scene.
