FHP: Alcohol-related crash triggers 2 accidents on U.S. 41 East

An alcohol-related crash early Monday caused two other accidents on U.S. 41 East in southern Collier County, Florida Highway Patrol reports show.

About 1:30 a.m. Monday, an eastbound pickup truck struck a guardrail and overturned onto its roof on U.S. 41 East about a half mile from State Road 29 in southern Collier County before being struck by two cars in the westbound lanes.

A 1998 Ford F-150 driven by Daniel R. Calderon Licea, 40, of Miami, was struck by a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Sandor Daranyi, 54, of Fort Lauderdale, and then a marked Collier County Sheriff’s patrol car responding to the original crash struck the pickup.

Licea was treated for minor injuries at NCH Hospital in downtown Naples. Neither Daranyi nor a passenger in the sedan, Manish Sharma, 23, of India, were injured. No condition report was given for the deputy.

Charges are pending for the driver of the pickup, but not for the sedan driver, FHP reports show.
