East Naples Fire to rehire 5 laid off firefighters, backs off on recovery fees

Five out of nine firefighters laid off in East Naples now have their jobs back, effective immediately. And the fire department is backing off on plans to charge when responding to fires and accidents.

Tuesday night, East Naples Fire Commissioners voted to give five of the nine laid off firefighters their jobs back by using money from the fire department's reserve fund.

"It's obviously very positive," said Chris Tobin, East Naples Fire Union President.
