Southwest Florida International Airport sees decrease in November traffic

— Southwest Florida International Airport saw a decrease in passengers this November compared to November 2010.

During November, 612,470 passengers traveled through the airport, a decrease of 6.2 percent compared to last November. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 0.7 percent from the same period last year, reports the Lee County Port Authority, which operates the airport.

The traffic leader in November was Delta with 123,808 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (115,120), Southwest (77,489), JetBlue (73,694) and US Airways (55,373).

The airport had 6,650 takeoffs and landings, a decrease of 7 percent compared to November 2010. Page Field saw 7,183 movements, a 7.3 percent increase from November 2010. In addition, more than 2.5 million pounds of air freight moved through the airport this November, a decrease of 7.5 percent compared to November 2010.
