EVERGLADES CITY — The Everglades Seafood Festival continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
It’s one of the biggest annual events in Southwest Florida. Tens of thousands of people will flock to Everglades City to eat fried seafood, play carnival games and enjoy a strong line-up of country singers.
Former “American Idol” runner-up Josh Gracin and local phenom Casey Weston lead an entertainment roster that includes country duo Joey and Rory, Marco Island psychobillies the Gladezmen, classic rock and blues cover band Weathered Souls and LoCash Cowboys.
On the food side, the main event is seafood. But don’t expect lobster thermidor. This festival celebrates all things fried — from shrimp to scallops to gator. This isn’t a festival for folks looking to limit caloric intake.
Parking is always packed and the road into Everglades City gets backed up, sometimes to U.S. 41 and beyond, so come early or be patient.
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
Where: Everglades City, four miles south of U.S. 41 on State Road 29
