Island Club Foundation plans golf fundraiser

The Island Country Club Foundation tees off its fundraising endeavors with its 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Feb. 27.

It is being done in partnership with Island Parks and Recreation Foundation. Half of the proceeds from the event will go to the Island Parks Foundation to help fund a new community center at Frank E. Mackle Jr. Community Park on Marco Island.

Those interested in participating can form their own team or have the Island Club Pro Shop place them on a team. Each team will showcase a student golfer from Collier County public high schools. The winning teams will donate their cash to the charities of their choice from a pre-selected list of local charities.

The day’s event begins with a fun skills competition among participants. A barbecue lunch follows, followed by a five-person handicapped scramble event. Cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres, awards and raffle drawings follow at 5:30 p.m.

The all-inclusive cost is $175 per player. Those not participating in the outing can attend the end-of-day festivities for $40 a person.

For more information call the Island Country Club, 394-6661, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Checks payable to the Island Country Club Foundation, can be mailed to Island Country Club Foundation, 500 Nassau Road, Marco Island.
