Kent A. Kleeberger has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer at Fort Myers-based Chico's FAS Inc.
He assuming the job held by Jeffrey A. Jones, who is retiring from the women's retailer on March 7.
Jones will stay on as a part-time consultant during a transition period.
In a statement, David F. Dyer, president and CEO of Chico's, said, "Jeff Jones' contribution to the success of the company during his two years as COO is immeasurable. He has been a valued and trusted advisor to me, my executive team and our board of directors."
Kleeberger, 58, has served as an executive vice president for finance and a chief financial officer for Chico's since joining the company in November 2007.
From 2004 to October 2007, Kleeberger was the senior vice president/chief financial officer for Dollar Tree Stores Inc. He's also had executive positions with Tween Brands Inc. and The Limited Inc. He's on the board of directors for Shoe Carnival Inc. and he's the chairman of the company's audit committee.
Chico's will conduct a national search for a new chief financial officer. Kleeberger will continue to do the job until his replacement is found.
