A Bonita Springs man accused of mailing 120 Oxycodone pills in December to a Massachusetts address was arrested Wednesday.
Michael John Verrochio, 46, of the 26000 block of Imperial Harbor Boulevard, was charged with trafficking in opium or a derivative.
According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report:
On Dec. 29, a Sheriff’s Office highway/parcel team conducting surveillance at a package-delivery store watched a car with two men pull into the parking lot and enter the store. The driver, later identified as Verrochio, was carrying an envelope.
A deputy went inside and saw Verrochio complete a slip to mail the items while talking on a cell phone. He asked for and repeated the Massachusetts address over the phone.
A canine and his handler went to the store to ferret out the package. The address Verrochio put on the package does not exist, but is similar to the suspect’s home address.
Deputies executed a search warrant on the envelope and found the Oxycodone pills.
The report noted that deputies identified Verocchio in January, when looking into a group sending pills to the same Massachusetts address.
