Parental guidance took an ugly turn after deputies say a Golden Gate Estates man aimed a gun at his son’s friend and threatened to kill him, according to a Collier Sheriff’s Office report.
James L. Schaller, 50, of the 14500 block of Indigo Lakes Circle, Golden Gate Estates, was arrested at home by Collier deputies and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the report, Schaller’s 15-year-old son told deputies he snuck out of his house with a 14-year-old friend. When they returned to Schaller’s home, witnesses said, the 14-year-old’s mother was present.
After an argument about returning home, the mother began spanking her son with a wooden switch, Schaller’s son told deputies. When she refused to stop, the 14-year-old pushed his mother, witness said in the report.
That’s when Schaller approached his son’s friend with a handgun, witnesses told deputies.
Schaller pointed the gun at 14-year-old’s head and said, “That is assault and battery, get into the car, or I will blow your head off,” his son told deputies according to the report.
When his son tried to get between Schaller and his friend, he told deputies, his father threatened his son as well, according to the report.
