Sheila's out shopping: Tea time

I enjoy tea — tea parties, high tea, tea sets, the comfort of tea when you have a cold, cooking with tea and tea roses. My favorite cold drink is an Arnie Palmer: half tea, half lemonade. I am going to a tea ceremony tonight and thought it would be fun to shop for products that are made with tea.

My first stop was Whole Foods Market, where I found soaps, moisturizers, shampoos and lotions that were made with tea. But my favorite purchase was Bali’s Best Tea Candy in classic iced tea, citrus green tea or green tea latte ($2.69). The 42 individually wrapped drops are made with real tea extract, and the iced tea has a very light flavor. You can also get loose tea in various flavors ($1.99 to $2.49 per ounce) to brew at home.

There’s a lot at Whole Foods: Nature’s Gate has a tea tree moisturizing lotion ($6.99) that helps calm and soothe you as it nurtures your skin. Green tea soaps include the triple-milled soap ($3.99) and South of France green tea ($5.99). Aubray Organics offers the following made with green tea: facial toner ($9.29); a moisturizer with SPF 15 ($16.29); a rejuvenating mask ($8.99); and a facial cleansing lotion ($7.99).

Naples Soap Co. has a red clover-and-tea soap and an orange spice tea soap ($1.79 per ounce). All the soaps are made with olive and shea butter and have no artificial fragrances or detergents. You can also get a salt scrub and a body scrub with apple, green tea and ginger by Gratiae ($66 for both).

Asia Pok Market has a variety of teas and tea pots, but what I liked was the Magnolia Green Tea ice cream ($6, per quart) from the Philippines and pints ($4.99) by Meda.

Ulta carries Tea Tree, a line by Paul Mitchell, that has a special style shaper ($11.50), hair and scalp treatment ($15.25), styling gel ($11.50) and shaping cream ($16.50). They also carry shampoos and leave-in conditioners ($12 each) for children by Circle of Friends made with tea tree.

Everything I saw and bought suited me to a “tea.”

Ike wanted to find snacks to munch while watching the Jets game on Sunday.

The verdict: I have been waiting since Super Bowl III to see the Jets go to the big dance and wanted to stock up on snacks to enjoy the game this Sunday. I found full size pretzel rods by Utz at World Market that comes in a plastic canister that will make storing easy.
